Beliefs and Common Practices
We believe the gospel is something to be obeyed and that the church is a family that helps us live out that obedience. We believe all people have sinned and are in need of salvation. The Bible teaches us that salvation is available only through Christ by means of faith, repentance and baptism. We baptize by immersion upon an individual’s expression of faith and desire to submit to the lordship of Jesus Christ.
We do not distinguish between clergy and laity, nor address people by religious titles. We consider all Christians to be priests and to be of equal stature and value in God’s sight. We do, however, believe that positions of leadership are reserved for men. Therefore, those who serve as elders or deacons and who lead in worship or teach adult classes are all men.
